Classifying Glass in Construction

There are many kinds of glass on the market; however we can classify them into 3 typical types: according the level of light transmission (transparent glass, frosted glass, reflective glass, and mirror glass), according to the level of glass structure (tempered glass and non-tempered glass), and according to the level of usage (two-layer-laminated glass, no- air inside glass). Besides, there is also interior decorative glass such as glass for table-face, chair or sofa.


Glass is a familiar material in architecture constructions. Glass can be presented with many different functions. It can be typical material, finishing material and decorative material with high aesthetic. Glass can be used in many types of constructions, from religious constructions such as churches, temples to office buildings, private space for each family.

 

Glass creates an open space for house with natural environment surrounding.

 

Glass applications are so variety that we can easily find it in any modern house. In modern life, glass is used widely due to its beauty and quality. Most of modern style houses usually use glass to decorate and construct.


The advantage of glass is easy to use, easy to clean and be able to transmit sunlight thoroughly. When we understand clearly about glass’s application and usage, we can increase its aesthetic value. The other function of glass is to make stair, floor and ceiling. People usually use tempered glass for floor and this glass has higher strength than normal glass. People usually use pattern glass with high artistic value for ceiling. Architects will choose suitable design for each space. 

 

The advantage of glass is an obscured material but allows sunshine to transmit.


Glass is applied widely in most constructions, especially in household application. It is clearly to know that most toilets need a mirror or small apartments use glass to make them seem wider.

Nowadays, glass is a necessary material in household decoration. Skylight is an example, especially the roof. Skylight is light transmitting fenestration for day lighting purposes. For that reason, we should choose the glass panel to suitable with the house’s design. It is not only getting sunlight to house but also avoiding sun radiation.


Glass is perfect solution for doors, windows, partitions. We should choose beautiful views such as garden, mountain, lakes or scenery and open that space to bring sunlight to house, creating beautiful view for your house. Then, glass door or partitions play an important role because it is an attractive and lively natural picture.
